Piano Time

Joie loves to play the piano.  Though she has never taken any lessons she has been able to learn many songs mostly by ear, but YouTube has been a great help as well.

Her finger clap at the end was a surprise for me and made me chuckle.
Happy homeschooling=)

Celebrating the Traditional Sabbath

November 2, 2012
THE SABBATH
Dressed in Our best for the Friday Evening Meal.  Our cousins, Megan and Daniel, joined us for this informative celebration.  I am not going to go into all the details of this night because I am behind on my blogging.  I am pretty sure blogging is supposed to be done as it happens, but what do you know, Life got in the way and I don't want to skip sharing somethings.  I will tell you that our information about the Jewish feasts cam from the book Celebrating Biblical Feasts In Your Home or Church by Martha Zimmerman
Jayden's Challah Covering

Joie's Challah Covering
I think it's very sweet to see how Jayden's inspiration came from Joie.  This experience was truly remarkable and one we will do again.

P.S.  Make the bread.  It is worth the time.

Exhausted Homeschooler plants Seeds

Homeschooling can be wear you out when you combine it with all the regular things that still must be done.   Maybe it's the cold wintery season or the fact that my family has been sick, but I am exhausted.  We had some warm temperatures sweep through our city the last few days and I felt a little more energized, but today, my fingers and toes had a chill that wouldn't go away because the sun was hiding it's beautiful face and I felt like taking a nap all day.  I don't like lethargic days like this.  They always have me feeling like I'm not doing enough, but goodness can't a girl take a break? Gotta say, I am looking forward to spring =D

Last week, we planted some seeds.  Hoping we planted the tomatoes early enough to get a few tomatoes before the sun burns them.  Yesterday, we saw a sunflower seedling sprouting.

We are starting all the seeds indoors in egg cartons.  I'll keep you posted with how they do.
I'm planting seeds even though I am wiped out;)

CTG PE/ Chanukah 12-7-2012

I wish I would have taken more pictures of this beautiful day. We are blessed beyond measure being part of Joyful Journey Homeschool group. It's wonderful to bring our children together to learn, interact, and grow as Christians. Both joie and jayden are appreciating this opportunity. The joys of the group and our friends will make leaving Las Vegas again even more difficult. Each time we come back I see how deep our roots have grown in this city. I have been trying to cut off some of the ties to make moving easier, but it's those ties that make life enjoyable.

Fishing and Homeschool

Fishing is definitely part of our 2012-2013 school year.  There are so many things to learn from fishing.   Along with the necessary skills fishing teaches you patience.  It helps you wait in peace and it also teaches you that you don't always win.  How many times have you gone fishing and come home empty handed?
Joie loves to fish.  Me, too.  I love the stillness in the air and the peace that surrounds fishing.  Here are some photos of us fishing in Texas.

  Yay!  FUN.

Moon phases

Since we learned that the Jewish calendar is based off the lunar phases I thought I would be fun to learn about those phases with Oreos. The picture is sideways, but I'm sure you get the point.
